messing with the hearts of simple strangers,
then when they trust you - you take them right to town

crumble at the base and come tumbling down

at the start you make things seem easy
people trust you, all bright and breezy,
unaware that you never play it straight

as the course of true love progresses
then you add the strains and the stresses
and you watch as things just disintegrate

everybody knows how you flatter
then when backs are turned you just scatter
upturned drawing pins all around the floor
though your acts are cruel and malicious
simple fools aren't even suspicious
they still turn to you and just ask for more
