Respect Yourself

if your head is bowed others put you down because they think you're weak
so be strong and proud and assert yourself in every word you speak
say it right out loud, don't let them get you down, remember you're unique

in the mirror there do you see somone who's suffered much neglect ?
now reflect and see that that someone there deserves more self-respect

don't let others hurt you, especially with lies
if they're wrong, reject them, speak out, and correct them

sure, it isn't easy, criticism hurts
but you needn't mind it if nothing's behind it

it's a rough old world, but you mustn't let yourself be pushed aside
it's a tough old world and if how they treat you is unjustified
in this tough old world you must respect yourself, you've got to have some pride
