the time has come to pause and to reflect on what is done
you've hurt yourself
you let yourself believe that you had really found the one
all innocent
you gave your heart not knowing just how cruel love's ways could be
so before you go and give your heart again
think carefully

you're vulnerable
your eyes gazed into heaven and believed they saw the stars
and when they fell
they crashed down on your dreams, and now you're left to bear the scars
you've paid the price
you left yourself wide-open to the way that love can be
so before you go and lose your heart again
think carefully

yes, you might find somebody new
and be inclined to take their word their love is true
but bear in mind that there can be no guarantee

experience
has knocked you back and taught you that you really were naive
the lesson now is - seek that perfect love, but don't go rushing to believe
you've realised accepting without question is the hardest way to fall
so before you go and hurt your heart again
