how to comprehend, how to learn what's true
let it be more sage, and be ever more expanding

Allah take my mouth, let it learn that what it says is
always to be weighed and considered true
let it speak what's wise and not utter empty phrases
Allah take my mouth, it belongs to you

let me not begrudge changing wind and changing season
of what is good let me be a part
let me not misjudge, let me rule my world with reason
that which is good place it in my heart

take now my soul and let it know full well the worth
of sweet existence on this earth, its meaning and its call
let it extol in reverential attitude
in humbleness and gratitude the beauty of it all

Jesus take my eyes, give them good interpretation
never make them blind to a thing that's true
let them see what's right and avoid discrimination
