in the matter of feeling to thine own self be true
be sincere in revealing the measure of you
don't be put off your stride or deflected
look straight ahead and proudly look the world in the eye

learn which way you are leaning, search, and constantly strive
to derive deeper meaning for why you're alive
take full time out for self-recognition
and then in all humility be proud of yourself

for you to value the earth
for you to be in command
for you to judge what it's worth
you've got to know where you stand

for you to seek out your star
for you to follow your dream
you've got to know what you are
you've got to have self-esteem

you've got to use your mental cells to analyze and understand
you've got to scrutinize yourself to recognise just where you stand
you've to reason for yourself just why you're here upon this earth
you've got to know within yourself that you have worth
you have worth

value truth and precision when you look and you see
contemplating with vision, intelligently,
why you're granted this joy of existence
and why you stand uniquely as the one in command

for you to value the earth
for you to be in command
for you to judge what it's worth
you've got to know where you stand

for you to seek out your star
for you to follow your dream
