What Good Would It Do Me ?

I could take some action, go-to doggedly and mount a defence, and try to resist you
but I knew that so to do would patently defy common sense the moment I kissed you
I could use my best endeavours to convince my heart that you mean nothing to me
but you'd see right through me, there would be no point about it
even if I wanted to try, what good would it do me ?

to say convincingly you've no effect on me
would be a travesty of self-duplicity
because it just would be a lie
why should I choose a fight I would lose ?

I know to even dare to say, profess or swear
that I don't really care, don't want you everywhere
would be a monumental lie
I'll just give in and let you win

I might just as well concede already that the battle is lost and let you subdue me
I could use my best endeavours to convince my heart that you mean nothing to me
but you'd see right through me, there would be no point about it
even if I wanted to try, what good would it do me ?
