Lead Me to the Light

in a frantic world of human racing, hurrying ahead
I resolved to make up my own mind, to keep a steady tread,
from the moment I became aware to strive with all my might
for the instruments of truth and love to lead me to the light

with so many contradicting voices shouting out the way
I have tried to think with measured words and weigh the things they say
using common-sense and reason to distinguish wrong from right
seeking ways of love and ways of truth to lead me to the light

in pursuit of human pleasure, in pursuit of all my dreams
I have tried to balance good with bad and follow what beseems
and when I move towards the great unknown and fight the final fight
I will pray that only truth and love will lead me to the light
