You Never Left Me

why should I not take fragmented dreams and wrap them up in a tissue that's made of plausible lies ?
let my beliefs now empty above, so moon and the sun and stars were not ever there in the skies
why shouldn't all these sorrows unwanted be wiped from my eyes ?

the moon's not in the sky
the stars don't shine on high
the sun has run away
all of these things are the proof saying you never left me
they're such convincing proof that you never left me
so many things in the sky, but for myself I do not care
observe how easily I just close my eyes and they're not there - see

I don't want to admit that I'm crying
