Better Beware

take some precautions to keep safe and sound
advance but tread lightly, keep testing the ground
because it deceives you, leaves you dreaming those dreams
and when the moon's reflected in silvery streams
it's not what it seems
but if you're stubborn with stars in your eyes
and simply think that I'm telling you lies
you'd better take care, better beware !

proceed with alertness, resolve to be strong
don't walk with your eyes closed, or rush out headlong
because it's a cheating, fleeting, under the eaves
silent intruder who often pretends and deceives
it visits then leaves
but if you're stubborn with stars in your eyes
and simply think that I'm telling you lies
you'd better take care, better beware !

don't ever say that you were unprepared
when you require your broken heart repaired
don't make excuses to me later on
I tell you now, I'm issuing this warning - beware !

don't go protesting that you didn't know
I'll only tell you that I told you so
some learn the lesson when it's much too late
so listen up now, and act upon this warning - beware !

don't land in a mess
keeps things in proportion, review and assess
remain at your leisure, measure, weigh what it's worth
away with the notion that love will be moving the earth
give that wide berth
but if you're stubborn with stars in your eyes
and simply think that I'm telling you lies
you'd better take care, better beware !
