Ticket to Nowhere

I was standing at the station, looking for some place to go
needing someone by my side, needing somebody to know
you gave out an invitation - would I care to tag along ?
I accepted willingly but the journey went all wrong

you took my heart for a ride on a ticket to nowhere
I didn't notice you gone till I looked at the sign
you left me out in the cold with a ticket to nowhere
lost and completely alone at the end of the line

I didn't reach my destination tantalisingly in view
though naively I had thought that I might get to it with you
