Marzipan

oh, I still recall the delight
when I had my very first bite
of my marzipan - oh, the taste was so sweet

that confection opened a door
that was never opened before
yes my marzipan made my young years complete

how many flavours I've known and yet
one taste I've savoured I shall not forget

and that sweetest taste of them all
is the one I fondly recall
when my memories take me back to the start -

the taste of marzipan lingers here in my heart
